Ants

Ants, contrary to their innocuous appearance,

Are perhaps the most terrifying creatures

On our treacherous planet; that is,

After humans.

But why

The humble ant?

An ant is as fearless as it is overlooked.

In a Goliath world the ant is David.

Every puddle is an ocean, every mole hill a mountain, every cracked boulder a bottomless

            Crevice—

To the ant

Who fears none of it.

An ant will go anywhere:

Into your shoes,

Into your food,

Into your clothes

Into your ears

Through your brain

Down to your heart

Going anywhere in the name of nothing:

It is the ant I fear most.

One day ants will consume us all.
